Role Overview:
As a Piping Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for performing stress analysis on piping systems to ensure their safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with a team of engineers and designers to deliver robust solutions for various industrial projects, including those in the oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct piping stress analysis using industry-standard software to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Evaluate the effects of thermal, seismic, and dynamic loads on piping systems, making design recommendations as needed.
- Review and optimize piping layouts and support configurations to minimize stress and ensure system integrity.
- Prepare detailed stress reports and documentation, including calculations and recommendations for design modifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, and structural engineers, to integrate stress analysis findings into overall project designs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and designers, ensuring the accuracy and quality of their work.
- Participate in project planning, design reviews, and client meetings, offering expertise on piping stress-related issues.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing systems and recommend improvements or modifications.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in piping stress engineering.
- Ensure all work adheres to the firm’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for licensure in Manitoba.
- 5-7 years of experience in piping stress analysis, particularly in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation.
- Proficiency in piping stress analysis software such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including ASME, API, and CSA.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions for complex engineering challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
