Role Overview:
As an Auditor of Insurance and Financial Services, you will be responsible for conducting audits and assessments to ensure that our financial practices and operations comply with regulatory standards and internal policies. You will play a key role in identifying risks, improving processes, and safeguarding the financial health of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive audits of financial statements, insurance policies, and operational procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Review and assess the adequacy of internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes.
- Analyze financial data and records to detect discrepancies, irregularities, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to address audit findings and implement improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant.
- Provide guidance and support to other departments on financial and operational matters, helping them understand and meet compliance requirements.
- Participate in the development and enhancement of audit methodologies, tools, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an auditor, preferably within the insurance or financial services industries.
- Strong understanding of auditing principles, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards in Nova Scotia’s insurance and financial services sectors.
- Proficiency in auditing software, financial management systems, and data analysis tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA) are a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly and effectively.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple audits and projects simultaneously.
