Role Overview:
As a Site Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects. You will collaborate closely with our insurance and engineering teams to assess project risks, provide technical evaluations, and ensure that all engineering projects adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough site assessments and evaluations to identify potential risks and generate detailed reports that inform insurance underwriting and project planning.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to design and implement infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet all relevant codes and standards.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, blueprints, and other technical documents to plan and execute projects effectively.
- Prepare accurate project estimates, timelines, and technical specifications, ensuring clear communication of all project details.
- Oversee the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and infrastructure, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Provide expert technical advice and support to clients, helping them understand the engineering implications of their projects and how they relate to their insurance coverage.
- Review and approve project designs, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in civil engineering, construction methods, and materials, and apply this knowledge to ongoing and future projects.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, ensuring the quality and accuracy of their work.
- Ensure that all projects comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations related to construction, environmental impact, and occupational safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for licensure in Quebec.
- Proven experience in civil engineering, particularly in site assessments, infrastructure design, and project management.
- In-depth knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a track record of managing complex engineering projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is highly desirable.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
