Role Overview:
As a Caregiver, you will be responsible for providing personal care, companionship, and support to an elderly or disabled family member. You will help with daily activities, ensure their safety and well-being, and contribute to their overall quality of life. This position is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and has a genuine desire to care for others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging in conversation and activities that the individual enjoys.
- Help with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and comfort of the individual.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for any side effects or changes in health.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Perform light housekeeping duties related to the individual’s care, such as laundry, changing bed linens, and tidying living areas.
- Accompany the individual to medical appointments, outings, and social activities as needed.
- Monitor the individual’s physical and emotional well-being, reporting any concerns to family members or healthcare professionals.
- Follow care plans and routines established by the family or healthcare team.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment to promote the individual’s comfort and health.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Caregiver, personal support worker, or in a similar role is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Strong understanding of the needs of elderly or disabled individuals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.
- Flexibility to adapt to the individual’s schedule and changing needs.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are an asset.
- References from previous caregiving positions will be required.
