Role Overview:
As a Foot Care Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive foot care services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of foot and lower limb conditions. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized foot care services, including assessments, treatments, and preventive care for patients with foot and lower limb conditions.
  • Perform routine and complex foot care procedures such as nail trimming, callus removal, and wound care.
  • Develop and implement individualized foot care plans based on patient assessments and medical history.
  • Educate patients and their families on foot care practices, including hygiene, prevention, and management of foot-related health issues.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, response to treatments, and any changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians, podiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address patient needs.
  • Provide recommendations for referrals and additional services as needed.
  • Stay current with advancements in foot care practices, technologies, and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Participate in community outreach and health promotion activities related to foot care and overall wellness.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Nursing with specialized training in foot care or podiatry; certification in foot care nursing is an asset.
  • Valid nursing license and registration in Alberta.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a foot care nursing role or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of foot care procedures, conditions, and treatments.
  • Excellent assessment, diagnostic, and clinical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and support patients effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Experience with electronic health records and documentation is a plus.
