Role Overview:
As a Behavioral Counsellor, you will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling services to clients facing behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges. You will work collaboratively with clients to develop and implement personalized treatment plans, support their personal growth, and assist them in achieving their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of clients to identify behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions based on client assessments.
  • Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to support clients in managing and overcoming behavioral and emotional challenges.
  • Collaborate with clients to set achievable goals and track progress towards treatment objectives.
  • Offer crisis intervention and support as needed to clients in distress or facing immediate challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and case documentation.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, social workers, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Educate clients and their families about coping strategies, resources, and available support services.
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in behavioral counseling and mental health.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field; Master’s degree or higher is an asset.
  • Relevant certification or licensure in behavioral counseling or related disciplines.
  • 2-4 years of experience in behavioral counseling or a related role, with a focus on individual and group therapy.
  • Strong knowledge of counseling techniques, therapeutic interventions, and mental health practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to client care and support.
  • Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and case management is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and another language is an asset.
